Topics:  EIU Student Chapter 2009 – 2010 Activities / EIU IT Program, Goals and Overview.  

 

Elias will present the various activites that the EIU Student Chapter has been involved in for this academic year, and their plans for the upcoming NCC.   Vicki Hampton, the Student Chapter advisor, will outline the IT program at EIU,  EIU has developed a very successful IT program at the college, so this combined presentation will be worth attending.

April Program – Joe Priestley, CIO of Prairie Cardiovascular

Joe Priestley, the Chief Information Officer with Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd., will be providing a Technology in Healthcare presentation. This presentation will shed light on the current trends in the healthcare industry and how facilities use the latest in electronic systems, integration, and more. Joe has an extensive background in both IT and healthcare, serving in positions of CIO and Technology Director with previous medical facilities before coming to Prairie. Joe's technical background also includes holding the CCNP, CCDP, MCSE, and CISSP certifications. Joe's extensive background will surely make this an informative event.

 

May Program – Margaret Walker, a distinguished toastmaster with Toastmasters International will be providing a Transitioning leadership Roles in Non-profit Organizations presentation.  This presentation answers and advises on the best practices many organizations face when leadership roles (or the torch) are passed onto other members.  Margaret has an insatiable yen for public speaking, and as a Toastmaster, she was awarded the 2009 District 8 Humorous Speech contest winner and will be competing in the 2010 International Speech Contest, where she will vie for the title of World Champion of Public Speaking.

June: Garrett J. “Gary” Rhodes is a master estate planning advisor, and will be providing a Estate Planning presentation. He specializes in information to his clients as to how they can grow and preserve their estates, and more importantly, how to protect them from probate and federal estate taxes. He is required to be certified annually in the field of proper estate planning and has achieved his “Master” status. He also holds a state-regulated license to offer retirement planning. Gary’s dedication to integrity, service and pride in both he and his clients are evident from the moment you meet him.
